VOLUNTEER PROJECTS
Camp Currie relies heavily on the service work of all who use our property to keep the camp clean and well maintained.
We have a running list of big and small projects that groups can choose to do. We also have a wish-list of large projects that would require things like permits which would be perfect for a Gold Award or Eagle Award Project.
Small And Always Available
* Clear trails of rocks fallen branches and encroaching fauna
* Pull invasive species (blackberries, bull thistle, tansy ragwort, etc)
* Remove invasive reed canary grass from creek
* Sweep out spider webs from outhouses
* Pile small sticks from meadow and camp areas into firewood piles
* Cut back encroaching brush from road
Larger But No Permits Required
Please contact us before beginning one of these projects:
* Re-mortar slate to Fire pits by stage
* Replace backdrop wall of stage
* Repair flag poles to archery and slingshot ranges
* Weed and re-define archery range
* Replace decking of slingshot range
* Weed and re-define slingshot range
* Repair tent platforms. (replace broken boards)
* Repair benches and fence rails in Chapel area
* Repair or replace broken picnic tables
* Repair trail signs
* Repair stairs from parking lot to lodge
* Repair or replace the flag pole near the lodge
Large And Requires Permits
Please contact us before beginning one of these projects:
* Replace footbridge behind adirondacks
* Repair shelters that are currently closed
* Reinforce flooring of adirondacks.
* Replace roof of outhouse(s) that are closed. (also likely requires structural enhancements and dryrot repairs)
* Repair Chapel building
* Install a grey water dumping station
